  • CLM Claims College – School of Professional Lines

    Topic: Alternative Litigation Strategies & Coordinating the Claims Process. • Course Overview: CLM views the education of claims professionals as very important, so in 2012 they established Claims College and enlisted some of the industry's top professionals to create and teach courses within their areas of expertise in the College's eleven specialty schools. The Schools of Casualty Claims, Construction, Cyber Claims, Insurance Fraud, Professional Lines, Property Claims, Transportation and Workers Compensation are three-level programs. Upon successful completion of these Schools, students earn their Certified Claims Professional (CCP) in that specialty. The Schools of Claims Mediation, Extra-Contractual Claims and Leadership are one-level programs. Upon successful completion of these Schools, participants earn a Certificate of Completion for that program. Since its inception, hundreds of students have attended Claims College and nearly 300 have earned their CCP designation.

    Topic: Radiology malpractice claims continue to rise. Approximately 70% of radiologists will face a malpractice claim during their career and more than 50% will be sued at least once by age 60. 80% of these claims involve misinterpretation of clinical tests and failure to diagnose. Frequently the delay in diagnosis results in delay in treatment of progressive diseases, such as cancer, and the potential monetary exposure can be very high. The many unique issues with respect to radiology claims, and teleradiology, will be addressed by the panel, including best practices/strategies to mitigate exposure and manage risk with examples given.
