The Integration of Risk Management and Claims Management. Robert B. Blasio, President and CEO of Western Litigation, Inc. in conjunction with Tim Over of Sedgwick CMS will illustrate how a successful captive program must include the integegration of risk management and claims management, rather than allowing the two programs to simply exist in a parallel fashion. A workers compensation program example will be used, although this concept applies to any type of insurance program. In addition, the two firms will provide a brief update on the Centers for Medficare and Medicaid Services ("CMS") new reporting requirements. December 2009

Mitigating Defense Costs in a Tough Economy. Robert B. Blasio, President and CEO and Amanda Mount, Claims Attorney of WLI with Mark Wilford, AVP Claims and Insurance for TeamHealth will present on one of the most talked about areas in today's economy, defense cost. We have noticed a significant increase in everyone’s focus on decreasing the cost of defense without sacrificing good representation. The focus of this presentation will be on three major areas where we have the ability to control (decrease) the amount spent on defense: internal risk management techniques, early resolution, and decreasing actual costs. This is directed at anyone who manages claims or monitors defense costs. April 2010
